Ateliers d’Art de France unites over 6,000 French artisans, selected using three criteria: 1. All pieces handcrafted in an atelier in France. 2. Technical mastery of a specific savoir-faire. 3. Creativity and quality of the pieces.
She likes to bring a discreet touch of whimsy to a piece by adding a wave, a button, a notch, or making it just slightly askew. She may also inscribe it with handwriting, markings which are illegible but are imprints of snatches of life, the beginnings of stray words heard on the radio, or overheard bits of conversation.
Her textures play on contrasts: glazed or unglazed, smooth, slit, striped or carved, or speckled with a concoction of ash, ocher and cobalt oxides. She works in dark clay in such a way as to bring to the fore the fundamental qualities of the material.
Co-founder of the Festival de Céramique Paris 11, Patricia divides her time between her ateliers in Paris and in the village of Saint Amand-en-Puisaye, historically renowned for its pottery.
