Product details

Catherine has always been fascinated by the living, and time that passes. She tries to transcribe onto copper the extreme fragility of life.

Catherine begins her artistic creation by painting the plates with gouache and pastels, using her hands and arms to form the shape of her thoughts. Then the engraving work begins, a slow precise effort, an enigma she must solve, digging line after line onto the copper plates, transposing her sensations and emotions without betraying them.

This piece, composed at a pivotal moment in her life, is the transcription of her experience onto copper and, in a further transformation, from inked copper to paper.

The three engravings in this series may be displayed independently, paired with another, or as a group of three.
