Product details
After the solidity and earthiness of the first engraving in this series, this second one completes the first: vegetable as opposed to mineral. The engraving vibrates with emotion as each image is composed of thousands of tiny lines, finely incised, one by one, into the original copper plate. Catherine transcribes onto copper the extreme fragility of life.
Catherine begins her artistic creation by painting the plates with gouache and pastels, using her hands and arms to form the shape of her thoughts. Then the engraving work begins, a slow precise effort, an enigma she must solve, digging line after line onto the copper plates, transposing her sensations and emotions without betraying them.
