Product details
The creation of each piece is a long, exacting process. Ismaël creates his vases with liquid porcelain, pouring it into molds which he has designed and carefully sculpted. The long series of gestures including molding, drying, sanding, firing, coloring and meticulously decorating each individual piece takes 5-6 days.
He applies transparent glaze to the inside to give it a smooth, shiny surface, but prefers the matte finish of unglazed porcelain on the outside. The graphic designs in bold colors fading to white are created from pure or mixed oxides applied to the exterior. He then creates his signature graphic designs using a technique called sgraffito, gently scratching the colored surface to allow the white porcelain to show through. His designs are complex yet subtle and unpretentious.
Each piece is individually crafted by hand and will vary slightly.
